Tattoo and Piercing care Instructions

By following these guidelines and using recommended products, you can ensure the best possible healing process for your tattoos and piercings.

Piercing

  • • Get a good night's rest.

    • Eat a good meal about 2 hours before your appointment.

    • Stay well hydrated.

    • Bring only one guest to your appointment.

  • Following these aftercare instructions is crucial to ensure proper healing of your piercing. Failing to do so may result in complications.

    Sea Salt Soaks:

We recommend non-iodized, fine grain sea salt soaks at least once a day. This type of salt is superior to regular table salt, which often contains additives that can hinder wound healing. Avoid coarse kosher salt, Epsom salt, alcohol, or peroxides.

How to Make a Sea Salt Soak:

    1. Mix 1/4 teaspoon of non-iodized sea salt with 8 oz. (1 cup) of clean, distilled, warm water.

    2. Ensure the proportions are correct to avoid irritation or burning.

    3. Make a small pad out of a paper towel or use a cotton round (avoid cotton balls as fibers can get stuck).

    4. Dip the pad into the solution until saturated, then place it on the piercing area, molding it around the jewelry to create a compress.

    5. Re-dip the pad every few minutes if it dries out.

    6. Soak the piercing for up to 10 minutes, then rinse with fresh, clean water.

Do this 2-3 times a day until the piercing has healed.

  • Irritation bumps, also known as "the dreaded bump" or "piercing bump," can appear on or near a piercing at any time. These bumps can be painful, ooze liquids, and prevent proper healing. They can form due to:

    • Twisting your piercing.

    • Over-cleaning.

    • Applying pressure while sleeping.

    • Snagging.

    • Changing jewelry too soon.

    TREATMENT OPTIONS:

    • Salt Soaks: Continue with sea salt soaks if they help.

    • Essential Oils: Apply essential oils or ointments designed for keloids, such as tea tree oil diluted with distilled water (1/4 tsp tea tree oil with 3/4 tsp distilled water), or Correct-X.

    • NoPull Discs: Medical-grade silicone discs can apply pressure to smooth out bumps over 2-4 weeks.

TATTOO

  • • Get a good night's rest.

    • Eat a good meal about 2 hours before your appointment.

    • Stay well hydrated.

    • Avoid numbing cream as it can affect how the skin holds ink.

    • No sunburns: Artists will not tattoo sunburnt skin as it won't heal properly.

    • Bring only one guest to your appointment.

  • Following these aftercare instructions is crucial to ensure proper healing of your tattoo. Failing to do so may result in an additional charge for a touch-up.

    1. Initial Bandage: Leave it on for 2 to 4 hours.

    2. Wash Your Hands: Before removing the bandage. Wash the tattoo with mild, fragrance-free antibacterial soap using only your fingertips and warm water. Avoid bar soap.

    3. Dry Your Tattoo: Pat dry with a clean, soft towel or good quality paper towel.

    AFTER 5 DAYS

    1. Apply Lotion: Use a thin film of unscented lotion like Curel Ultra Healing Lotion. Other recommendations include Lubriderm, Eucerin, and Cetaphil. Avoid scented lotions.

    2. Follow Professional Advice: Only use products recommended by professionals, not friends.

    3. Healing Process: Your tattoo will start to flake in about 4-7 days. Do not pick or scratch it; let it peel naturally.

    4. Continue Using Lotion: Apply unscented lotion for an additional 4-6 weeks after flaking stops. Use sunscreen once the tattoo is fully healed.

    DO NOT

    • Shave the tattoo or surrounding area.
